In Lakki Marwat, thousands of people march in support of peace and want the government to abandon its policy of appeasement and establish its writ.
Tens of thousands of locals protested against the ongoing wave of terrorism in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) by taking to the streets once more.
They urged the government to abandon its appeasement strategy and use all of its resources to crush the terrorists in order to end the curse and restore peace to the province.
Awami National Party (ANP) district president Malik Ali Sarwar Khan, Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) district president Amirzada Khattak, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) district amir Azizullah Khan, Inamullah Khan, Engineer Ehsanullah, and Chairman Ali Khan all joined the peace rally.
They spoke to the rally attendees and stated that Lakki Marwat has an abundance of natural resources.
They emphasised that despite the presence of oil, gas, and lime stone reserves, there was still no system in place to compensate the district for its royalties. They claimed that the district’s problems were caused by a mafia with roots in Sindh and Punjab.
“Poverty is pervasive in the area, and these initiatives don’t offer work to locals either. Local resources are not being used to benefit the local population, they remarked, adding that it is regrettable that a situation similar to Waziristan is developing in the district.
As there is no end in sight to the killing of citizens on both sides, we will not permit anyone to disturb the quiet of the neighbourhood.
“Peace is our birthright, and it is the state’s duty to see that it is established and that peace is brought. The speakers declared, “We won’t stop protesting until absolute peace has been achieved.
In order to exert the most pressure on the government, the speakers also asked local citizens, social activists, and political workers to join their demonstration.
It should be noted that Lakki Marwat is one of K-most P’s dangerous areas, and that there have recently been deadly terrorist assaults against police there.
Police groups are frequently ambushed with deadly effectiveness, and police stations are frequently targeted. In large-scale operations, the police and security forces have also killed dozens of terrorists.
