The package will be broken down into two categories: RS1.15 billion for those who are eligible for BISP, and RS3.85 billion for general customers.

ISLAMABAD: As part of the Ramzan Relief Package, the Utilities Shops will provide discounts on 19 commodities totaling five billion rupees.

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) beneficiaries would receive Rs. 1.15 billion of the Ramzan package, while regular consumers will receive Rs. 3.85 billion. The launch date for the Ramzan Relief Package is March 20, according to sources from Utilities Shops.

The Ramzan Relief Package was approved by the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Wednesday. A hybrid Ramzan Relief Package (targeted and untargeted) with a budget of Rs 5 billion and 19 items was approved by the ECC for the Utilities Stores Corporation. The Ministry of Industry and Production authorised the summary.

The cost of a 10 kg bag of wheat would be Rs 400, the cost of ghee would be Rs 300, and the cost of sugar would be Rs 70 per kg for BISP users.

While 10 kg of flour would cost Rs648, 10 kg of ghee would cost Rs490, and 10 kg of sugar would cost Rs89, the common consumer would only pay Rs27 per kg for flour, Rs11 for sugar, and Rs25 for ghee.

A subsidy of Rs 20 per kg on pulses, Rs 25 on cooking oil, Rs 50 on dates, Rs 15 on beverages, Rs 100 on tea, and Rs 30 on milk and black tea would be provided to all consumers.
