ISLAMABAD:
At a municipal court in Islamabad on Tuesday, a plea was filed asking for the bail that had been granted to Hassaan Khan Niazi, the nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan.

Police detained Niazi on March 20 in front of the Islamabad Judicial Complex.

After the altercations that occurred between PTI members and Islamabad police during Imran Khan’s court appearance in the Toshakhana matter two weeks ago, Niazi was detained.

According to reports, he was there when the former prime minister showed up at the Court Complex.

According to police sources, Niazi was detained in G-11, which is close to the complex, for his role in assaulting law enforcement officers and spreading mayhem in the federal capital.

Eventually, an Islamabad district and sessions court denied the police’s request to extend the man’s physical detention and instead placed him on a 14-day judicial detention.

Via Deputy District Prosecutor Adnan Ali, the state contested the ruling today, arguing that the bail was authorized without informing the prosecution.

The petition claimed that the orders had been improperly imposed since “the judicial magistrate granted bail without hearing the state’s case.”

The appeal asked the lower court to revoke the bail since it was claimed that Niazi was “not deserving” of it because he was charged with “plotting to assassinate police personnel.”
