According to Asif, former CJP Nisar took Nawaz’s animosity “too far.” The defense minister claims that hearing the former CJP’s audio leak has caused him “great pain.”
Throwing down the gauntlet to former Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif claimed on Tuesday that the ex-CJP had gone too far in his ‘enmity’ with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
Asif made his remarks in response to an audio clip involving Nisar and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) attorney Khwaja Tariq Raheem that the minister claimed caused him “great pain” and was leaked on Twitter.
“Mr. Saqib Nisar, your audio was really distressing to hear. You have offended Nawaz Sharif too much, he said on his Twitter account.
In addition, the minister asserted that Nisar made unfounded claims about Nawaz and his brother, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in the past, and he promised to refute them in the media with the truth. He did not, however, add any further details to the statements.
Directly addressing Nisar, Asif retorted, “You have exacted retribution from Nawaz Sharif and punished him. How much longer will you keep this poison in your possession?
An audio clip of Saqib Nisar and Raheem supposedly discussing legal issues with apparent political importance had appeared on social media.
After greeting each other in Punjabi, a voice claiming to be Nisar calls Raheem’s attention to a certain seven-member jury.
Nisar reportedly replied, “Sir, it is a seven-member judgment reported on Supreme Court 2012 page 553,” to the remark, “It is suo motu number 4 of 2010.”
The PTI attorney can be heard replying that he will investigate the matter.
