ISLAMABAD:
On Monday, Pakistan and Japan reached an agreement to expand their bilateral ties in a variety of areas, including commerce, investment, human resource development and exchange, information technology, tourism, and agriculture.
In a joint press statement, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his Japanese counterpart Yoshimasa Hayashi said, “We have also jointly agreed to explore the possibility of working together on targeted programmes with higher impact in the domains of solarization, desalination and water purification and housing and infrastructure rebuilding in the floods affected areas of Pakistan.”
The meeting between the two ministers earlier was described as friendly. The two ministers agreed that freer bilateral relations were beneficial and expressed a willingness to continue working together.
In addition, in order to simplify the mobility of skilled labour, the two parties have agreed to administer Japanese language assessment tests in Pakistan.
In addition to enhancing their language, Bilawal said that the two countries plan to share Pakistan’s youthful and skilled human resources with Japan. We also discussed the possibility of Japanese business investments and partnerships in Pakistan.
Bilawal has stated that he plans to meet with business leaders, members of the local media, and think tanks during his visit. I think it’s important for both parties to maintain contact on all fronts if they want to keep the lines of communication open and find new ways to work together.
The Japanese foreign minister was also extended an invitation to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience to continue bilateral talks.
He remarked that ties of friendship between Pakistan and Japan go back centuries and provide a special affinity between the two countries.
The people of Pakistan feel tremendous love and respect for their Japanese neighbours. He emphasised that we have always supported one another.
Continuing high-level exchanges, according to Bilawal, have infused new life and vitality into the partnership. In addition, on the eve of the 29th Ministerial Meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on August 4, 2022, I had the pleasure of meeting Minister Hayashi. He then said, “Today, we continued our talks from that meeting.”
