At least five people were killed on Wednesday when a building being constructed in Karachi’s Shah Faisal Colony neighbourhood collapsed.

Two persons were hurt in the incident as well.

Construction workers inside the building appeared to be all of the victims, according to Edhi sources. The unfortunate structure, located next to Qadri Masjid, appeared to fall while third-floor development was in progress.

As soon as the tragedy was reported, locals and emergency personnel rushed to the scene to begin saving lives.

A police representative verified the event resulted in fatalities. He said there were six construction workers in the doomed structure. “Four labourers have been evacuated with minor injuries while a pedestrian was killed by the collapse of a building,” according to law enforcement.

Abdul Ghaffar son of Hasan Ali, 55, Naseer Ahmed son of Mohammad Anwar, 30, and Mohammad Kashif son of Mehbood Ali, 37, have all been confirmed as victims.

Three bodies have been pulled from the wreckage, and those who were hurt have been sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
