Senator Mushahid Hussain, head of Pakistan’s parliamentary delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) annual conference, spoke out against Israel’s “war crime” against the Palestinian people on Thursday in LUANDA, citing “hypocrisy and double standards” on the part of the West.

There has been an upsurge in violence against Muslims, which the senator at the IPU general assembly blamed on Islamophobia.

The International Parliamentary Union (IPU) is an organization of 170 parliaments throughout the world, all of which have elected representatives from Pakistan to serve on its Executive Council, Committee on Human Rights of Parliamentarians, and Committee on Peace and Democracy.

Here are the three basics:

Mushahid, throughout his remarks, brought up three main themes. It was a logical response to 56 years of occupation and barbaric Israeli actions, including the killing of innocents, the senator said, adding that Palestinian resistance to the illegitimate Israeli occupation was “justified under international law and the UN Charter.”

Second, he said that the United States and “Western hypocrisy and double standards” are to blame for Israeli war crimes by opposing a truce in Gaza, which has resulted in an increase in casualties.

More than 500 children were killed in the bombardment of Al Ahli Hospital, and the senator said that the United States has been supporting Israel throughout the violence.

The senator concluded by saying that Israel has always called the Palestinians “terrorists,” whether they were under Yasser Arafat or Hamas, and that despite this accusation, the Palestinians won the “most free election in the Middle East” in 2007.

Stop the genocide

Mushahid put forth the demand, which was to halt the ‘Gaza Genocide’ and the blockade of Gaza, which has been going on for 16 years, and to terminate the longstanding Israeli occupation. The senator continued by calling for a halt to the daily degradation of sacred texts and sites. He also insisted on the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.

Islamophobia

According to the senator, violence against Muslims in the West is rooted in hatred, bigotry, and racism, making Islamophobia a threat to interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence. He went on to say that such actions frequently hurt Muslims’ fundamental beliefs and their love to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He has pleaded with Western governments to enact “necessary legislation” for Muslims.

Combat militarism

The senator spoke out against militarism, the new Cold War, and NATO’s potential expansion into Asia. The senator went on to express his support for China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which he sees as a 21st-century development strategy.

Additionally, he spoke highly of Pakistan’s ties to the African continent and outlined the country’s backing for liberation movements across the continent, including those in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Eritrea, Namibia, Mozambique, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco.

Senators Shahzad Waseem (Leader of the Opposition), Sadia Khaqan Abbasi, and Attaur Rahman, together with Secretary Senate Qasim Samad and Pakistan Ambassador to Zimbabwe Murad Baseer, were present for the session of the Pakistan Parliamentary delegation.

Earlier this month, at a media cooperation meeting centered on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the senator was presented with the Silk Road Award. This honor was bestowed upon him for his efforts in furthering the CPEC between China and Pakistan.
