Hours after a soldier was slain in an ambush on a military convoy on Sunday, security forces swiftly retaliated by killing two terrorists in the Gwadar area and four extremists in another operation in the Bajaur district.

The terrorist attack on the military convoy in Gwadar, Balochistan, occurred about 10 a.m., the military’s media arm, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), reported.

It stated, “Due to efficient and swift response, two terrorists were sent to hell with no harm to any military or civil persons,” and that the security forces were resolved to thwart the enemy to guarantee peace and prosperity in the country.

According to the Chinese embassy in Islamabad and the Chinese consul general in Karachi, the attack was directed at Chinese nationals making their way from Gwadar airport to a construction site in the port region.

“A Chinese convoy from the Gwadar port project was hit by roadside bombs and gunfire on its way back to the port area from the Gwadar Airport,” the consulate added. Moreover, “no Chinese citizens were killed or injured,” it stated.

Near the Balochistan, Pakistan port of Gwadar, a convoy carrying Chinese citizens came under attack. The Chinese side suffered no losses, and the embassy claims that all necessary staff have been relocated to a safe location.

It “strongly condemns this terrorist act” and “the Embassy and the Consulate General in Karachi launched an emergency response immediately,” the embassy stated in a statement.

The statement went on to say that China would keep cooperating with Pakistan to fight terrorism together and ensure the security of Chinese institutions and projects in the country.

The embassy statement urged Chinese nationals in Pakistan to remain alert and take precautions against potential threats to their safety.

An IBO Bajaur

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a supplementary statement confirming that an army serviceman had accepted martyrdom during an IBO in the Bajaur area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on the night of August 12–13.

According to the ISPR, the IBO targeted the location where terrorists were reportedly hiding out. According to the report, “four extremists were killed in an intense exchange of fire,” and another terrorist was taken into custody.

During the “intense exchange of fire,” 24-year-old District Kohat resident and sepoy Muhammad Shoaib “fought gallantly and embraced Shahadat,” according to the ISPR statement.

According to the report, the terrorists were involved in a wide variety of terrorist attacks on security personnel and civilians, including suicide bombings, and that their weapons, ammo, and explosives, including a suicide vest, had been confiscated from them.

Any terrorists hiding in the region have been targeted by the cleaning operation. The ISPR reaffirmed Pakistan’s security forces’ commitment to “eradicating the menace of terrorism from Pakistan.”

According to the police, security forces and militants fought it out in the Charming neighborhood of Navagai Tehsil. They further said that one terrorist blew himself up and another was arrested during the operation.

Five members of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) were reportedly killed, according to the sources. They said the militants had planned a huge terrorist attack for Independence Day, but that their plans had been foiled.
