General Fayyadh Bin Hamed Al Ruwaili, the Saudi Chief of Army Staff, met with his Pakistani counterpart, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, on Friday in RAWALPINDI to discuss subjects of mutual interest, bilateral cooperation, and defence and security.

According to a statement released by ISPR, COAS General Asim Munir met with Gen. Ruwaili and a high-ranking military delegation.

According to the military’s press office, “both sides deliberated upon various areas of mutual interest, bilateral cooperation, including defence and security matters” during the meeting.

It was also noted that today, at the Joint Staff Headquarters, the delegation had a meeting with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.

Gen. Munir had informed the business community a few days earlier that Saudi Arabia would be investing $25 billion in Pakistan through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), with the intention of luring investment in the agriculture sector by granting land and guaranteeing exports.

Anwaarul Haq, Pakistan’s caretaker prime minister, said last month that the Saudi government plans to invest $25 billion in the country over the next two to five years. He had also promised that the privatisation process, which had stopped, would be resumed under his interim government.

As part of the effort to attract more foreign direct investment (FDI), Kakar had mentioned that the Saudi money will be put into the mining, agriculture, and IT industries.
