PESHAWAR: After being attacked by a terrorist organization, a squad from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) opened fire in North Waziristan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), killing four terrorists.

A CTD spokesperson stated that when terrorists unexpectedly opened fire on CTD personnel and tossed hand grenades close to the Mir Ali Bypass, the operation team of North Waziristan was escorting criminals from Miran Shah to Bannu.

The spokesperson claimed that four terrorists were killed in the retaliatory action.

The terrorists’ allies fled by taking advantage of the darkness during the joint search and clearance operation of the security forces and police.

Irshadullah alias Abu Bakrul Masoomullah Sukna Madip Khel Noor, a member of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Zarrar Banuchi Group, Abdul Rehman, a member of the Ghazi Force Zafiruddin Group, and Meher Din, a member of the TTP Zargul faction, were identified as the deceased terrorists. One militant, though, remained unnamed.

The CTD had multiple terrorism investigations involving the assassinated terrorists, including assaults on law enforcement and security personnel. They took part in a number of terrorist attacks, such as the hand grenade attack on the Cantt Police Station and the deliberate assassination of Constable Iftikhar.

A sizable contingent of police and security personnel have arrived at the scene, and joint search efforts are being conducted to find the fugitive terrorists.

The incident draws attention to a recent spike in terror incidents nationwide.

In Lakki Marwat, K-P, last week, the army and police successfully carried out a joint operation that resulted in the death of 12 TTP Azharuddin Group militants.

The jihadists were travelling from Lakki Marwat to Tank to carry out terrorist acts. The army and Lakki police worked together to block a road and stop the terrorists.

The security forces were unharmed despite the militants’ opening fire.
