The plea for Imran’s release was taken up by LHC Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti. The chief judge opened the hearing by inquiring about the case status from Punjab IGP Dr. Usman Anwar.

Responding to the court’s order, IG Anwar said that he had met with the petitioner and his attorney to discuss the latest developments in the case.

He went on to say that the situation with journalist Imran Riaz Khan was improving.

But petitioner’s lawyer Ali Mian Ashfaq informed the court that things could change at any time.

The hearings were later postponed till September 20 by Chief Justice Bhatti.

Since his detention on May 11 at the Sialkot Airport, the whereabouts of anchorperson Imran have been unknown. Chief Justice Bhatti had already given the Punjab IG till September 13 to recover Imran during the petition’s last hearing.
