Upon the request of the Japanese government, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari arrived in Tokyo on Saturday for a formal visit.
According to a news release from the Foreign Office, he was met at the airport by a large group of people from the Pakistani community as well as the Pakistani Ambassador to Japan Raza Bashir Tarar and officials from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The foreign ministry published a statement saying the foreign minister’s visit marked the resumption of high-level contacts with Japan.

According to a previous news release, the foreign minister will meet with his Japanese colleague Yoshimasa Hayashi for delegation-level talks during his visit.
During his visit to Japan, Foreign Minister Bilawal will meet with both Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and National Security Advisor Takeo Akiba.
The foreign minister will also speak at Japan’s esteemed think tank, the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI).
Warmth, cordiality, and similarity of views on problems characterise the long-standing, time-tested friendship between Pakistan and Japan, it was said.
During his time in Japan, Bilawal will meet with high-ranking officials and executives from major corporations and organisations involved in the recruitment of Pakistani workers in the country’s labour market.
