Highway patrol officer charged with attempted rape
Suspect arrested by Daska police; three officers removed from duty
A highway police inspector has been charged with the attempted rape of a female passenger in his vehicle, according to a case filed at the Daska Saddar police station.
The FIR states that the incident took place as the victim, a Lahori, was traveling home from Daska at night. The girl was allegedly approached by a man who claimed to be a cop and offered to drive her to Lahore in his car.
But as they got closer to Dhidwala, the suspect, Muhammad Imran, allegedly started harassing the girl and tried to rape her.
The victim raised a fuss, so the suspect dragged her out of the car by her hair.
After being escorted to the Civil Hospital by police, the girl gave an interview in which she described her trauma as a molestation event that occurred on the highway.
Imran, though, has refuted these claims.
The girl had initially complained that she and Bilal, a resident of Jaisarwala village, had been stopped by Imran and three other people following him at around 3 am as they passed the Sialkot Motorway and told that they were also traveling to Lahore and given a ride.
However, they abducted her and blackmailed Bilal into leaving. Inspector Imran kept her in the car and harassed her until 10 a.m. when he released her at Jaisarwala Interchange. The other three men had already left.
She borrowed a phone from a total stranger and immediately called 911.
