ISLAMABAD:
On Wednesday, a special committee was formed by National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to look into the rumored audio leak involving the son of former top judge Saqib Nisar.

The National Assembly Secretariat announced the appointment of Aslam Bhootani as the committee’s chairman.

In addition to Shahida Akhtar Ali and Muhammad Abu Bakr, the committee also includes Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Sheikh Rohale Asghar, Syed Hussain Tariq, Naz Baloch, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Wajiha Qamar, Dr. Muhammad Afzal Khan Dhandla, and Wajiha Qamar.

The committee will undertake a “in-depth investigation” and report its findings to the NA. The Committee has the authority to request assistance from any appropriate investigating body.

In response to the release of a supposed audio recording of former chief judge Saqib Nisar’s son discussing the sale of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) election tickets, a special committee has been formed to investigate the matter.

A proposal calling for the creation of a special parliamentary committee to look into the rumoured audio leak was approved by the NA the day before.

Shahida Akhtar Ali proposed the creation of the committee to investigate the audio for forensics and interview the people who were heard on it. The motion also called for an audio probe to be conducted by an investigative agency.

During the meeting, Ali insisted that the National Assembly speaker appoint committee members and a chair. She also requested specific guidelines for the committee to follow and a deadline by which they must accomplish their mission.

Again, Ex-CJ Nisar is in the Spotlight Due to Audio Leaks.

Because of the political upheaval that the leaked audio tape produced, in which many people demanded a probe into the charges of corruption against ex-CJP Nisar and his son, this motion was passed. In response to allegations that they were involved in a ticket scam, the PTI has strongly repudiated the allegations and pledged zero tolerance for corruption inside the party.

Maryam Nawaz, Vice President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), responded to the motion by criticising the former chief justice for dragging the judiciary into shame and hurting the institution’s integrity. She demanded an in-depth probe of the situation as well.
