KATHMANDU, NEPAL: All six victims of Tuesday’s helicopter crash, including five Mexican nationals, have been recovered, according to police. This is the latest in a string of flying disasters to hit the Himalayan country.

The civil aviation regulator said the reason of the crash at Likkhu, northeast of Kathmandu, was unknown, and that the government will establish a probe committee to investigate.

Manang Air, who ran the helicopter, transports tourists who come to Nepal to witness the country’s towering peaks, including Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world. Sita Adhikari, a regional official in the district of Solukhumbu, where the disaster occurred, reported that rescuers had recovered the bodies of all six victims.

No one is expected to survive the deadliest plane crash in Nepal in 30 years, officials say.

“The bodies have broken into pieces,” Adhikari said. Additional law enforcement has been dispatched to the scene. When it happens, we’ll have all the information we need.

According to Teknath Sitoula, an officer at the airport, a Nepali pilot and five Mexican citizens were on board.

“The helicopter took off… in good weather,” Raju Neupane, a representative for Manang Air, said. No, the weather wasn’t terrible. We can no longer determine what led to the crash. It has to be looked into more.

Air crashes are common in the mountainous country since many airlines fly to little airports in inaccessible areas, such as highlands and peaks that are sometimes covered in fog and far from any roads.

In January, a jet crashed in the tourist city of Pokhara in Nepal, killing seventy-two people and leaving one body unidentified.
