Due to a severe lack of burial space in the city, Mayor Murtaza Wahab of Karachi has announced plans to construct new cemeteries in Karachi, as reported by Express-News on Monday.

At a meeting about the cemeteries in the city, Wahab stressed the importance of moving quickly.

At the meeting, he learned that a plot of land measuring 201 acres had been set aside in the Keamari neighborhood for the sole purpose of building a new cemetery.

In order to solve the critical shortage of burial space in the country’s most populous urban center, local authorities are expected to launch development work at the site soon.

Residents of all the city’s many neighborhoods share a common concern: there isn’t enough land to bury the dead. The fact that people with these worries brought them up at the conference shows how pervasive the problem is in the area.

Putting the needs of the community first, Mayor Wahab emphasized the urgency of finding solutions to issues raised by its residents.

Representatives from various government agencies were present, including Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad and Deputy Commissioner of Keamari District Ghulam Qadir Talpur.
