Prime Minister says anarchists are not open to talks.

In a veiled reference to the PTI’s role in the events of May 9, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan ruled against negotiations with “anarchists” and “arsonists” on Tuesday.

After PTI chairman Imran Khan offered political conversation and formed a seven-member “negotiation committee” without specifying who the committee would be negotiating with, the prime minister made his remark.

The government has previously said that it will not meet with the former prime minister because the time for discussions to resolve the matter has passed.

While stating in a Tweet on Tuesday that discussion is essential to the development of a democracy, the prime minister made it clear that it cannot be held with “anarchists” and “arsonists” hiding behind the mask of politics.

The prime minister remarked that discourse played a crucial role in the democratic process.

When political leaders sat down together to forge a consensus, he added, many political and constitutional advances resulted.

A key distinction, he explained, is that “anarchists and arsonists who wear the garb of politicians and attack the symbols of the state do not qualify for a dialogue.”

The prime minister stressed the importance of holding violent extremists accountable for their acts. He further said that this was commonplace even in modern democracies.
