RAWALPINDI: Dr. Faisal Sultan, Imran Khan’s personal doctor and chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf stated that there are no signs that his patient is being given “slow poison” in prison.
On Thursday, Dr. Sultan talked to the media after meeting with the former prime minister at Adiala Jail, where Imran is being held in connection with the cipher case.
Imran’s doctor told reporters that the PTI leader was healthy and eating well, and that he had no complaints about these things. Sultan explained that he may have said something earlier about being worried about his health, but that he was now being misquoted. It was made clear that no such symptoms were found during the current physical test.
When the news came out, Imran’s lawyer, Hamid Khan, said that the party and its members were all worried about Imran’s health because he had been attacked earlier.
He said it was sad that convicted leaders of other political parties were being treated with respect by the government while the head of the PTI was being bothered by the law and in distress.
He also said that there was always a way for political groups to talk to each other, but the PTI was not being given a fair chance in the upcoming elections.
“Who else can be talked to?” he asked, adding that this would also be made public soon.
Earlier, Imran’s top lawyer Hamid was with the Rawalpindi police when they recorded his statement about the May 9 cases.
After the statement was recorded, Sultan was able to meet with the ousted premier inside the prison and give him a physical check.
The words from the doctor came the day after Imran’s lawyer, Shiraz Ahmad Ranjha, denied rumors that he was being poisoned slowly in prison.
Ranjha strongly disagreed with all of these claims, calling them “baseless.”
Some people said that Imran was poisoned while he was in jail, but his lawyer put out a video statement strongly denying the rumors that were going around on social media.
Ranjha made it clear that the claims that the PTI chief was being poisoned or was in any way at risk of being poisoned were not true.
The lawyer talked about something that happened the day before and said that there was a mistake. He said that because the PTI chief had been the target of two previous attempts on his life, there was a lot of worry about his safety, especially when it came to the possibility of him being exposed to slow-acting poison.
Imran is being held at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi right now. He had been in Attock jail since August 5, when he was found guilty in the gifts storage case.
Rangers, a paramilitary force, arrested the former prime minister on May 9 from inside the high court in Islamabad. This was part of a National Accountability case about cheating in the Al-Qadir Trust.
He had been locked up at Attock District Jail since then and was just recently moved to Adiala Jail. Imran said that he had been jailed on false charges and promised to tell the truth in all of them.
