The Prime Minister of Pakistan is currently on his way to Turkey to express Pakistan’s “support and solidarity.”
The original visit that was supposed to take place last week with Shehbaz was postponed due to worries about the weather as well as relief activities.
After the recent earthquake that left over 40,000 people dead in parts of Turkey and Syria, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif travelled to Turkey on Thursday to express Pakistan’s support and solidarity.
The prime minister tweeted, “I am leaving for Türkiye with a message of unflinching sympathy and support from the people and government of Pakistan for our Turkish brothers and sisters.”
According to the “spirit of one nation existing in two states,” he continued, Pakistan regards Turkey’s loss as its own.
Originally, PM Shehbaz was supposed to fly to Ankara on February 7. Unfortunately, due to poor weather and ongoing relief and rescue efforts in Turkey, the journey was abruptly postponed.
The premier was reportedly unable to travel to the earthquake-affected regions because inclement weather prevented the chopper from taking off. The Turkish government also took part in humanitarian efforts.
The prime minister left for Turkey today after the visit was postponed.
Shehbaz paid a visit to the Turkish embassy in Islamabad on Monday to offer his sympathies to the Turkish people who have lost loved ones and property as a result of the earthquake.
Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the foreign minister, Ishaq Dar, the finance minister, Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq, the minister of law, Azam Nazeer Tarrar, SAPM Attaullah Tarrar, and SAPM Tariq Fatemi were all in his company.
Assuring the Turkish ambassador that Pakistan’s government and people stand in solidarity with the people of Turkey and will continue rescue and relief efforts “until the last affected person is rehabilitated,” the prime minister expressed his condolences to Turkey’s ambassador, Mehmet Paçaci, and prayed for the victims of the deadly earthquake in Turkey.
He also emphasised Pakistan’s assistance to Turkey’s earthquake victims. He thanked the ambassador and the people of Turkey for their outpouring of compassion and support in a condolence book where he had also recorded his words.
The Turkish envoy praised the prime minister and the people of Pakistan and said they were moved by the outpouring of sorrow and solidarity from the whole country.
