Tariq Fazal, a member of the PML-N, has stated that the PDM is attempting to get permission from the local administration in Islamabad to have a sit-in front of the Supreme Court.

The ruling coalition party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), in Islamabad on Sunday requested permission from the district administration to stage a sit-in in front of the Supreme Court building.

Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, a former minister and current head of the PML-N, acknowledged to reporters that an application in this regard had been submitted.

Workers from the PML-N all throughout Islamabad, he promised, would take part in the demonstration in full. The application requests permission to “hold a public gathering at D-Chowk, Islamabad on Monday at 10am” on behalf of the ruling party alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

The highest court in the country stepped in on Thursday to free Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former prime minister Imran Khan, declaring his detention by the country’s top graft-buster from the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to be illegal and ordering his immediate release.

The IHC subsequently released Imran on two weeks’ interim bail in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

PDM declared it will demonstrate against the SC for its “unjust behavior” shortly after news of the IHC’s ruling became public.

We’ve chosen to make a stand against this kind of treatment. My duty as a PDM representative compels me to urge all Pakistanis to travel to Islamabad on Monday. At a news conference in Islamabad, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) leader and PDM President Maulana Fazlur Rehman declared that the group would engage in a massive sit-in and protest.

Fazl has previously stated that no party members or employees would be staying home during the demonstration.

He had warned that physical force will be used if necessary, specifically mentioning clubs, slaps, and punches.

While everything was going on, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the rest of the federal cabinet strongly criticized CJP Umar Ata Bandial for his “extraordinary intervention” in the arrest of Imran Khan. The top judge’s intervention was judged “misconduct” by the government.

The federal cabinet claims that the arrest of Imran Khan in a “open and shut case of corruption and corrupt practices” was conducted in accordance with the Constitution, the law, and legal procedures.

The federal cabinet reaffirmed its previous statement condemning the CJP’s interference as unreasonable. It called the CJP’s interference “misconduct” and condemned it.

To add insult to injury, no official from the Islamabad police force showed up to a meeting presided over by the SC’s registrar on Saturday to evaluate security measures for the SC in light of the demonstration planned outside its premises on Monday.

The registrar of the Supreme Court voiced his displeasure with the Islamabad police for their lack of cooperation.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has filed a petition with the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) urging it to reconsider its ruling of holding elections to the Punjab Assembly on May 14. This petition will be heard on Monday.

After the court-ordered election date has passed for the second time, the petition would be heard the following day.
