ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of utilizing all available tools and resources to adopt contemporary educational practices, such as digitisation projects, as well as providing teachers with the most recent training.

He was speaking during a ceremony to officially launch the “Teleschool Pakistan App, Google for Education and Digital Continuous Professional Development” program, which aims to further transform Pakistan’s formal education system.

The Ministry of Federal Education created the mobile app Teleschool Pakistan to offer free online education to pupils in all grade levels.

The prime minister spoke during the ceremony and lamented the poor quality of teacher preparation in the nation, citing his own experiences in Punjab province.

During his time as chief minister, he claimed to have ordered actions to raise the caliber of roughly 40 training facilities in the province.

The prime minister ordered the federal education minister to develop a plan with the help of the province governments to raise the standard of teacher preparation.

Referring to the importance of the most recent technology in education, he emphasized that if they wanted to provide the younger generations with the best education possible, they would need to buy them laptops and other relevant technology so that the nation’s future leaders could become familiar with the new teaching methods.

He hinted that similar efforts will be carried out when he indicated that roughly 100,000 computers would be awarded to high achievers across the nation.

According to the prime minister, the corporate sector, provincial governments, and the vocational training program should work together to move the initiative ahead.

He continued, saying that instead of investing in real estate, businesses should focus on teaching young students in technical and job-related skills.

The prime minister emphasized that by incorporating the commercial sector, the students should receive direct training. The greatest private schools should be employed in a transparent manner, and each student should be invested in by receiving quality instruction.

The prime minister announced that significant investments will be made to construct a network of Danish schools in remote parts of Balochistan.

He voiced his belief that providing pupils in the province’s rural areas with a high-quality education will enable them to catch up to students in other regions of the nation.

He also suggested that the needs of the orphan children in terms of schooling be met.

Rana Tanveer Hussain, the federal education and professional training minister, spoke at the event and noted that the focus on teacher preparation was related to the quality of education.

He continued by saying that the covid-19 pandemic has given the world the chance to adopt distance learning techniques.

According to the minister, the plan would see the creation of six channels, which would be a significant development for the nation’s educational system.

He said that there were approximately 22.8 million children in Pakistan who were not in school, and that there were not enough resources to meet their demands. He added that the recent initiatives will be beneficial in meeting these children’s needs.

He noted that it was bad that the nation’s universities weren’t among the top leading educational institutions in the world and that the technical and skill development of the youth was essential.

Parliamentarians, bureaucrats, and representatives of development partners attended the occasion.

Waseem Ajmal, secretary for federal education and professional training, gave a summary of the program.

He predicted that many media would be used to create and distribute digital material. There were a total of six digital channels being introduced for various age groups.

He claimed that 6,000 high-quality movies were ready following the Covid epidemic.

Under the professional development effort, teachers would also receive sufficient training, he noted.

He stated that 6,000 more Chromebooks would be provided shortly in addition to the 150 Chromebooks that were already being distributed to children as part of the campaign.
