Shazia stated that all parties will run for office based on their own views, but that the PPP would leave the door to reconciliation open for other parties. She also expressed optimism that the PPP would win an absolute majority in the upcoming general election.

Shazia remarked, “We see ourselves forming the government in the Centre,” indicating that the PPP saw itself a major party in the region’s centralized government.

She said, “Things are at the preliminary stage right now” in reference to an alliance with the PTI. Some PPP figures have advocated for an alliance with the PTI in certain Punjabi constituencies, while others have spoken out against such a move. Nothing of note has happened as of yet.”

Kundi stated, “The PPP has no coalition with the PTI at this time. There has been no backchannel communication between the two sides.

Kundi added that while the PPP had taken a moral and principal stance in favor of the PTI, this in no way indicated an alliance or that the two parties would be running in the polls together.

The political arm of the PTI has publicly stated its approval of what it calls the “right thinking” of a “responsible personality” within the PPP.

Given the PTI’s likely exclusion from the election process, the statement referred to a challenge to the legitimacy of the outcomes.

Recently, with the approval of jailed PTI Chairman Imran Khan, the PTI agreed to open a channel of communication with other political parties, just days after the party leadership met with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

After the JUI-F party chairman approved of beginning political conversation among the political groups, the PTI leadership reached out to him in the hopes of securing a level playing field for the upcoming general elections.

PTI seems to have realized the need of maintaining communication with other political parties after spending much of its history at odds with them and rarely settling for anything less than branding their opponents thieves, looters, corrupts, and traitors.

On Oct 28, the political committee discussed in depth and finalised the schedule for interactions with other political parties to be begun from next week.

After the PPP issued a statement that worked in PTI’s favor, sources within the party speculated that the next meeting would be with the PPP leadership.

Still, that hasn’t happened yet.

Also on Friday, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari voiced confidence in his party’s ability to win the upcoming general election in Karachi.

After officially opening the Free Diagnostic Laboratory under the JDC Foundation, Bilawal made the announcement to the press. He predicted victory for the PPP on the basis of the party’s long history of helping its constituents.

Bilawal has also pushed for an election climate that is friendly to all political factions. He claimed, “The PPP has not been given a level-playing field in any of the past elections, but that the party has still been able to win.”

When it comes to the redistribution of illegal immigrants, Bilawal has advocated for the protection of human rights. He said that he was worried about the situation in Gaza, calling for an end to the “genocide” there.

Bilawal also remarked about the necessity of playgrounds and public places for the people, especially the youth. If elected, he added, the PPP would build sports fields and People’s Squares in every neighborhood of Karachi.

When Bilawal made his declaration, the PPP was already favored to win the next elections. The present government’s unpopularity is also seen as a boon for the party.
