LAHORE: As PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif reintroduces aggressive rhetoric ahead of his return to Pakistan, a ‘narrative committee’ has been established within the party to weigh in on the retaliatory narrative of the former prime minister, which, according to the insider’s personal reckoning, had little traction in the general populace.

The PML-N insider voiced concern that Nawaz Sharif will suffer personally as a result of the party’s aggressive narrative.
The story is also being discussed by the two-meeting ‘narrative’ committee established by the leadership of Pakistan’s Muslim League-Nawaz.
According to an insider who spoke on the condition of anonymity but had knowledge of the situation, the leadership had formed a “narrative committee” of about ten people to gauge public opinion and relay that information to them in order to determine whether or not the counter-narrative would be effective.
He said the committee’s findings and recommendations will shortly be submitted to the administration for consideration as they crafted their story.
Two virtual meetings have already been held by the committee. Marrium Aurganzeb, the party’s communication secretary, called and ran the gathering.
The leader of the party claimed that the majority of members were against taking retaliatory action, as doing so would put them in direct conflict with the current military bosses and cast doubt on the legitimacy of the government led by Shehbaz Sharif, who was quite friendly to the outgoing military boss that Nawaz has targeted.
After harshly condemning outgoing COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa during his time in opposition, he showered Bajwa’s praises after he came to power. He said that our government was the one that tried to hold the late General (retired) Musharaf accountable but failed. It was a 180-degree turn to criticise him once more.
He warned that the party would look foolish if it continued with this storyline and added that, from what he could tell, the party was planning to either drop this storyline or significantly tone it down in the near future.
He predicted that this story would be viewed as a danger by the establishment, even by the current power brokers. He did, however, stress that Nawaz Sharif had ultimate say over the story told.
Pervez Rashid, Khurram Dastagir, Azam Nazir Tarar, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, Marrium Aurangezb, Ata Ullah Tarar, Rana Sanaullah, and Bilal Kyani are on the committee, as well as senior PML-N politician Khawaja Saad Rafique and former federal minister and PML-N General Secretary Ahsan Iqbal.
Speaking with The Express Tribune, the PML-N politician who is on this committee revealed that a committee had been created and that he was a member.
He let out that the committee’s conclusions will shortly be presented to higher-ups. According to him, the second of two encounters took place online on Friday. He explained that the goal is broader than any one portion of the party’s story and that it must be adjusted to meet the needs of the present.
To win over today’s youth vote, he argued, we need to change our strategy. According to him, the meeting also covered the topic of how to bring new voters in the party supremacy of the constitution and public comments regarding PML-N.We reached out to several prominent figures, including Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sanaullah, and Marrium Aurangzeb, but they declined to comment.
