Abbas is not the first PTI member to switch allegiance to this new political group. Many former members of the ruling party, including those who left PTI after the May 9 violence, now make up the bulk of the IPP.

As a result of this episode, some prominent members of the PTI defected to the rival IPP.

Former MNA Abbas and former provincial assembly members Sadia Sohail and Samira Bukhari are in Lahore today to meet with IPP leader Jahangir Tareen and other party officials.

At the meeting, all three leaders expressed their everlasting faith in Tareen’s ability to govern. They talked about plans for the future of the party and other political measures.

Former PTI leader Imran Khan confidant Tareen has welcomed the new members of the party with open arms.

After then, the three leaders, including Andaleeb Abbas, held a news conference together with Firdous Ashiq Awan to formally declare their decision to join the IPP.
