Shehryar Afridi of the PTI is in a death cell, according to his attorney; the IHC is requesting Afridi’s medical data and has postponed the case’s hearing until June 2.

Shehryar Afridi, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been placed in a “death cell,” according to his attorney Sher Afzal Marwat’s testimony before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday.
Marwat asked Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir to move PTI leader Afridi to a maximum security prison at a hearing challenging Afridi’s arrest.
In addition, he asked the court to seek a medical exam for his client, claiming that the former minister’s “left arm is paralyzed” after he collapsed during his detention.
The state council informed the court that Afridi is also being questioned in connection with the I-9 case in his remarks.
The court has deferred the case until June 2 and said it will make an appropriate order on the appeal of Afridi’s brother once it receives the PTI leader’s medical documents.
On May 16th, the PTI leader was taken into custody. The former minister and his wife were supposedly “picked up” from Islamabad, as claimed by the party.
This time, ex-interior minister Shehryar Afridi was taken into custody together with his politically apolitical wife. “This is happening under the current fascist regime,” the PTI Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s official Twitter account had warned.
It has been alleged that Afridi was arrested under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance of 1960, specifically under Section 3, which authorizes the government to do so.
