Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed on Sunday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration had purposefully slowed down the pace of development in Punjab, which had been started by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) administration.

During a high-level meeting to review ongoing public welfare initiatives and other proposed projects in the province, the premier voiced his opinions. He added that the people of Punjab had been repaid for their support of the PML-N by having its earlier uplift initiatives put on hold rather than starting new ones.

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, PM’s advisor Ahad Khan Cheema, and federal and provincial officials were present at the meeting, according to a press statement from the PM Office Media Wing.

The Imamia colony overpass project in Lahore was thoroughly explained to the guests, and the prime minister gave the go-ahead to the concerned departments to expedite the project’s completion for public use.

Speaking to the audience, PM Shehbaz claimed that the operations of the province were “handed over to an incompetent and puppet chief minister” for the final four years of the previous administration.

The post of the chief minister was “misused for political manoeuvring at the federal level, instead of focusing on the progress of the province,” he continued.

The premier also pointed out that throughout the previous administration’s term, many public welfare-focused initiatives that ought to have been finished encountered roadblocks for years.

The delegates were also informed about the projected freeway connecting route between Lahore and Sialkot that will benefit the residents of Gujranwala.

Shehbaz instructed the chief minister to form a three-person committee to address this issue and provide a thorough update on the project at the following meeting.
