Sanaullah makes a solemn oath that he will “bring Imran before courts.”
The Minister of the Interior has stated that the government will utilize all available resources to eradicate terrorism.
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah stated that Imran Khan, the former prime minister, must show up for the court hearings or “he will be presented there,” in order to avoid further proceedings.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader was criticised by the interior minister during a news conference on Monday for missing hearings.
He claimed that the evidence was overwhelmingly against him and that he would have to show up in court to stand trial.
He added that when the Islamabad police team arrived in Lahore to arrest the former prime minister, the PTI leaders dramatised the situation.
“If Imran Khan respects the law so much, he should show up in court as directed,” he continued.
The minister stated that whether Imran was found not guilty or given a sentence, the court’s decision would be respected and put into effect.
He claimed Imran stole Rs. 50 billion from the national treasury with the help of a real estate magnate, registering the Al-Qadir Trust on 450 kanals. As trustees of this trust, Imran and his spouse allegedly “minted money” through their “front lady Farah Gogi,” he continued.
Sanaullah stated that the government would give the provinces all the resources necessary to uphold law and order and eliminate the threat of terrorism through appropriate means.
The provincial governments’ funding would not be reduced, and all of the demands placed on law enforcement organisations would be met, he stressed.
“Despite the catastrophic economic situation and the austerity measures being implemented, the government will not compromise on the needs of the law enforcement agencies and will provide all resources to them in accordance with the prime minister’s instructions,” he insisted.
He said that the federal government had promised to give the provinces all the resources necessary to maintain the status quo of peace and order during the meeting of the apex committee.
The minister declared that the entire country was supporting the valiant and courageous law enforcement personnel who were laying down their lives to end terrorism.
According to Sanaullah, a suicide bombing in Bolan resulted in the deaths of one civilian, eight Balochistan Constabulary members, and 13 other injuries. He claimed that an explosion happened on the Kumbri bridge, which spans the area between the boundaries of Sibi and Kachhi, when the constabulary van was returning to Quetta from Sibi.
According to the minister, a suicide bomber on a motorcycle crashed into the police van. He claimed that every care was being given to the injured people after they had been transported to hospitals by helicopter.
Addressing Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s remarks advocating the postponing of elections in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) due to security concerns, the minister stated that his viewpoint was significant. Yet he went on to say that the Election Commission of Pakistan, not the administration, had made the decision to hold the elections (ECP).
It looked difficult to pursue the election campaign in the current environment, thus he revealed that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will host a meeting to resolve this issue.
In response to a query, the minister claimed that the PTI’s inept administration destroyed the country’s economy during its three and a half year rule and broke IMF agreements.
In response to a different question, he stated that Nawaz Sharif had previously criticised his rivals, but in a polite manner since he did not approve of treating people badly.
When asked about the police’s use of torture against journalists, the minister responded that a report of the investigation will be given in court and that the court’s ruling would be honoured.
