In the run-up to the elections, Sarwar reaches out to the PPP.
The former governor of Punjab has strained relationships with both the PML-N and the PTI.
Former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar reached out to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Monday amid a shifting political landscape after his relationships with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) soured.
At Makhdoom’s home, Sarwar paid a visit to former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and PPP South Punjab President Makhdoom Syed Ahmed.
The current political and economic climate of the nation as well as topics of shared interest were discussed by both parties. They all agreed that everyone needed to play a part in helping the nation recover from its economic problems and advance.
According to Gilani, if the institution keeps its vow to stay out of politics, it will promote democracy and advance the nation.
He said, “If somebody is discovered to be in violation of Article 6 of the Pakistani Constitution, he would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
The former prime minister claimed that his party was attempting to carry on Benazir Bhutto’s objective.
For the first time in Pakistani history, we made it possible to remove a prime minister (Imran Khan) by a vote of no confidence. The PTI government was overthrown by Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Zardari, not Joe Biden, he said.
According to PPP South Punjab President Ahmed, dictatorships rob people of their freedom at gunpoint and give terrorists their rights out of fear.
He said, “Benazir once said that terrorism and authoritarianism were two sides of the same coin.
The PTI administration fired Sarwar in April of last year on the grounds that he was reportedly playing both sides.
According to PTI sources, he was dismissed from his position at the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, for allegedly supporting Hamza Shehbaz in the race for chief minister.
His previous criticism of the former prime leader Nawaz Sharif’s foreign policy caused a deterioration in his relationship with the PML-N, and as a result, he resigned in January 2015.
According to the sources, among other things, Nawaz removed him because he criticised the Foreign Office (FO) for US President Barack Obama’s visit to India rather than Pakistan, calling it a “failure” on the part of the nation’s foreign policy.
He later won the Punjab Senate race on the PTI ticket in March 2018, and Imran Khan, the PTI chairman, appointed him governor of Punjab in September 2018.
He failed to retain friendly ties with former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar and PML-Q leader Elahi, who was seeking the position on the PTI ticket.
Outspoken Sarwar had criticised the PTI’s policy on various times. He offered a harsh judgement of the previous Buzdar.
He publicly criticised the senior party leadership for selecting the chief minister after severing relations with the PTI.
He mocked the party leader by claiming that despite having a number of well-known contenders, like as Fawad Chaudhry, Imran Khan chose to appoint Buzdar as Punjab’s chief minister because only he could further the province’s pursuit of “Naya Pakistan.”
The former governor questioned whether this was the Pakistan he wanted, where the chief secretary and inspector general are swapped out every three months. “All of the PTI people – in Punjab, Pakistan — and the federal ministers protested to us,” he claimed. Additionally, he made significant accusations of corruption against Buzdar and the provincial PTI leadership.
