Students at NMD undergo specialized mining instruction
FC North and FWO are sponsoring a three-month training program.
After completing a special training course funded by the security forces, students from the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) were honored with a diploma presentation ceremony at the Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI) in Islamabad on Friday.
Training for young people in the mining industry was funded by the Frontier Corps (FC) North of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO).
Youth from Bajaur, Mohmand, and Khyber attended two intensive workshops held at the Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI) in Islamabad.
This meant the students didn’t have to worry about paying for anything, including the training course itself or the accommodations offered to them.
Over the course of the three-month program that began on April 1, at least fifty students from each of the three districts participated and finished it.
There was a certificate ceremony for those who have completed the course at CTTI Islamabad.
Certificates were handed out to the pupils by the FC North Inspector General and the FWO Director General.
In light of the positive feedback received from participants, FC North has decided to fund another group of students at CTTI to participate in additional training programs beginning on June 15.
In the past, we’ve invited 150 deserving children from Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, and Chitral to take part in these classes.
As it rebuilds after years of violence and terrorist activities, the region continues to need require assistance and infrastructure development.
This month, tribal elders from the newly merged districts demanded that the federal government release development funds of the merged districts, including those of the Accelerated Implementation Program (AIP), without further delay so that long-standing issues and deprivations of the tribal districts could be addressed.
While the integration of the former Fata province into the K-P province was hailed as a positive development, it was also noted that the newly amalgamated districts were still facing a number of problems that required the federal and provincial governments’ undivided attention.
It should be remembered that the federal government had originally budgeted Rs50 billion for the combined districts of K-P for the fiscal year 2022-23, including Rs30 billion under the 10-year old FATA Development Plan.
However, the Rs50 billion budget for the amalgamated districts of erstwhile FATA in K-P was taken over by the federal government earlier this year.
