PESHAWAR: On Monday, a significant meeting was held to discuss the current status of law and order in the province, with a focus on the recent emergence of problems in the Kurram tribal district.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) temporary chief minister Muhammad Azam Khan presided over the meeting.

The conference was called because of the chief minister’s worries about the existing state of law and order in Kurram district.

In response, he sent orders to the local police and administration to step up their efforts to calm things down, avoid violence, and keep the peace.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of finding peaceful solutions to all problems in the Kurram district.

The chief minister also urged residents to put the district’s well-being ahead of their own interests by prioritising harmony and cooperation. He stressed the importance of peace and stability for the region’s long-term economic growth and progress.

Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur, the Inspector General of Police; Zubair Asghar Qureshi, the Additional Chief Secretary; Amjad Ali Khan, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister; Muhammad Abid Majeed, the Secretary of the Ministry of Home and Tribal Affairs; and other key authorities were present at the meeting.

On Monday, ANP leader Aimal Wali Khan voiced alarm about the violence and turmoil in district Kurram, where a disagreement over land has led to armed combat.
