The local disaster management authority in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) reported on Sunday that at least 27 people had died and 169 had been injured due to recent storms and severe rainfall in the districts of Bannu, Karak, DI Khan, and Lakki Marwat.

Storms have been wreaking havoc on southern K-P areas including Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Karak since yesterday, destroying homes, uprooting trees and electricity pylons, and leaving hundreds of people without power.

Two people were killed and many more were injured as a result of the combination of torrential rainfall and high winds that caused walls, roofs, and trees to collapse.

Five deaths and 39 injuries have been reported as a result of the strong winds and heavy rainfall in Lakki Marwat, according to hospital sources.

According to official reports, five persons were killed and 10 were injured in Karak due to the windstorm.

Solar panel installations, which were commonly found on the roofs of buildings like schools and mosques, have taken a major financial hit as a result of the destruction.

Damages are estimated to be in the millions of rupees, and many solar panels have been destroyed or badly damaged. In addition, most of the affected communities are currently without power.

According to reports, 15 people have died as a result of the terrible storm in Bannu, two of them were killed when their roofs collapsed or when trees fell on them.

There were “at least 69 houses that were partially damaged,” according to a statement released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

The victims will receive aid, as Secretary Abdul Basit of the Relief, Rehabilitation, and Settlement Department has stated. The provincial administration is attempting to help the affected.

The PDMA spokeswoman further disclosed that the K-P government had released Rs40 million to help the affected population in Bannu.

The Secretary of Relief stated, “The PDMA is in close contact with the district administrations,” and that “aid must be provided to the affectees as per government policy.”

Four deaths have been reported as a result of rain-related occurrences in various regions of Punjab.

A man was killed in Hafizabad and three girls were killed in the Khushab district when a wall of their home collapsed.

In Punjab, at least 10 people were hurt and several trees were knocked over. One hundred Gepco feeders tripped, leaving large swaths of the division without power. This included Gujranwala.

Pakistani military rescue teams have begun aid distribution in the worst-hit districts of Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Karak.

After declaring an emergency at the government hospitals in the Bannu district, they transferred the injured there.

The prime minister has also ordered the National Disaster Management Authority to coordinate with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority and Rescue 1122 to provide aid and rehabilitation to the affected districts.
