Imran Khan, former prime minister and chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was transported from the Attock District Jail to Adiala Jail on Tuesday, despite his protests to a special court.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered Imran to be transferred to the Adiala Jail, thus a sizable number of Islamabad police arrived to the Attock jail in the afternoon to carry out the transfer.
According to sources speaking to The Express Tribune, Imran walked out of the Attock jail wearing black trousers and a white T-shirt.
When Imran arrived at the Adiala Jail, sources said he was given medical attention.
They further mentioned that when questioned if he suffered from any illnesses, the PTI leader had responded in the negative.
Later, he was moved to the section of the building that was set aside for former prime leaders.
According to the sources, the PTI chairman would have access to a television, newspaper, and a servant while incarcerated, as required by the Jail Manual.
They went on to say that he will have a bed, chair, and table provided for him in his cell.
After his conviction on August 5 in the Toshakhana case, Imran was immediately taken to the Attock District Jail. Approximately 90 kilometres west of the federal capital is the jail in Attock, where he was lodged due to “security concerns” on the part of the Punjab authorities.
The PTI chairman had his sentencing in the Toshakhana case suspended by the IHC on August 29, but on the same day he was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for the alleged illegal possession and use of a diplomatic cypher.
Since then, the case has been heard by a special court convened under the Official Secrets Act within the walls of the Attock prison. Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain prolonged Imran’s judicial remand until October 10 at a hearing held on Tuesday.
Both the FIA team and Imran’s solicitors, Salman Safdar and Umair Niazi, were present during the hearing. Naeem Haider Panjotha and Latif Khosa, attorneys for the ex-prime minister, also travelled to the prison to be present for the hearing.
Imran reportedly told Judge Zulqarnain he did not want to be moved to the Adiala Jail in a statement read in court. He continued by saying he felt comfortable enough in Attock prison at this point to request that his solicitors abandon the transfer request.
The PTI chairman’s judicial remand has been prolonged until October 10 and the court has ordered his appearance at the next hearing.
It further directed the FIA to promptly file the charge sheet or challan with the court.
The Federal Judicial Complex also marked the presence of PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who was arrested in connection with the same case. The hearing was postponed until October 10 and his judicial remand was extended until that date.
The special court denied bail for Imran and Qureshi after their arrests two weeks ago, saying there was “sufficient incriminating evidence available.”
Following his arrest in the cypher case, Imran petitioned the IHC for bail.
On October 2, Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the IHC is scheduled to hear Imran’s bail application. Meanwhile, the prosecution’s plea for an in-camera hearing of the bail application was denied by the IHC chief justice on Tuesday.
The court stated in a two-page written order that the FIA prosecutor had claimed that there were Official Secrets Act filings containing sensitive information and documents relating to the case.
It was also mentioned that the petitioner’s attorney had argued in open court.
The International Humanitarian Court also issued a written order for Imran’s transportation to Adiala Jail. The court ordered that the petitioner be given access to all prison amenities to which he was legally entitled.
However, the court denied Imran’s plea for the jail to be outfitted with exercise equipment.
It was not made apparent in the order, so Chief Justice Aamer Farooq was unable to offer instructions about the usage of such facilities. He also said that since the jail superintendent was the relevant authority, an application to them would be necessary.
The PTI chief’s request to have him transferred to Adiala Jail was granted the day before by Chief Justice Farooq.
The notification of Imran’s transfer to Attock jail was deemed unlawful by the court, hence the transfer was instead ordered to Adiala Jail.
The trial court had requested that Imran remain in Adiala Jail, but the petitioner was transferred to Attock Jail on the suggestion of the inspector general of prisons due to congestion and security issues at Adiala Jail.
On August 28th, when the IHC stayed the sentence, Imran was taken into custody in connection with the cypher case. It stated that the petitioner was now classified as a prisoner awaiting trial, and that all such detainees in Islamabad were housed in Adiala Jail. Convicted prisoners, on the other hand, might be transferred to any prison.
