Over 2.72 million youngsters in target areas of the province will be vaccinated against the potentially fatal poliovirus thanks to this program.

The oral polio vaccine (OPV) will be given to all eligible children under the age of five in eight entire and nine partial districts of the province as part of an effort called Sub-National Immunization Days, Outbreak Response (SNID/OBR).

Children aged 4 to 59 months old in Peshawar and Khyber will also receive a fractional dose of Inactivated Polio Vaccine to strengthen their immunity and prevent permanent paralysis.

On Friday, the Provincial Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) hosted a high-level meeting presided over by Additional Secretary Health for Polio Eradication and EOC Coordinator, Muhammad Asif Rahim, where the decision to launch this campaign was reached.

UNICEF, WHO, NSTOP, and health department officials were among those in attendance, as was Deputy Coordinator EOC Muhammad Zeeshan Khan.
