Muhammad Azam Khan, a District and Sessions Judge, presided over the trial. Shahnawaz Amir, the primary defendant, appeared in court.

Nawazish Ali, a SHO, testified in court and his statement was recorded.

To which Nawazish Ali replied, “You told the court that you were on a patrol,” posed by Approver Basharatullah.

“[But] you did not mention this in the first information report (FIR), and you also did not mention the phone call and where you received it from,” the approver pressed on.

“Yes, I was on duty,” SHO Nawazish Ali testified in court. You say the girl was wearing a bloodstained black shalwar, but the prosecution doesn’t address this.

“There is only one Form 161 that you have,” the approver told the SHO.

“Yes, I only have one statement,” the SHO said in court. You have not included the autopsy report with the deceased. Both petitions have been signed and written by different people. You knew about the murder weapon when you drafted the report; why didn’t you include that information? The reviewer had some questions for the SHO.

And, “it was mentioned in the prosecution, but not in the report, that there was a wound on the victim’s head,” he said. Attorney Rao Abdul Rahim said, “The father of Sara Inam has recorded his statement saying that his daughter was killed by hitting a dumble in the head.”

Head trauma was listed as the sole cause of death because that is what the attending physician reported, SHO Nawazish Ali stated.

“There is no eyewitness to the incident, not even you,” the approver said the SHO.
