It was in this context that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, speaking on Saturday in ISLAMABAD, emphasized the importance of maintaining political stability in order to implement the necessary changes for the country’s economy.

The prime minister made the following statement on his Twitter account: “it is here that the Charter of Economy appears to be the only way forward for our political parties to achieve prosperity for our people.”

After the unveiling of the budget for 2023–24, the prime minister tweeted, “It represents the beginning of the process to fix the economy’s long-term ailments.”

He went on to say that the coalition government’s priorities were spot-on in terms of their capacity to stimulate growth, attract investment, and ultimately lead to economic independence.

The prime minister noted the difficulties in preparing the budget (FY2023-24) due to ongoing issues such as flood relief and rehabilitation efforts, global supply chain interruptions, and geostrategic upheavals.

He lamented that “the country remained on the boil for well over a year” due to the “never-ending headwinds of political instability created by Imran Niazi.”

Aware of inflation’s effects, the government has raised the minimum wage to Rs32,000 and given raises of up to 35% to public sector workers and 17.5 % to retirees, according to the prime minister.

He claimed that under the current limits, it would have been impossible to create a better balanced budget that imposed no new taxes.

The prime minister also expressed his gratitude to everyone who participated in the budget process.

Connectivity to Kazakhstan

Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz stressed how important Pakistan’s ties to Kazakhstan were.
The PM spoke with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev over the phone.

According to a statement released by the PM Office Media Wing, the prime minister expressed his delight at the prospect of the start of flying operations between the two countries, citing the benefits to tourism and interpersonal relations that would result.

The two heads of state discussed the importance of increasing bilateral cooperation in several key sectors, including agriculture, information technology, textiles, and energy.

The President of Kazakhstan has stated his country’s wish to further improve their longstanding bilateral ties with Pakistan, which he has described as an important country in the area.

The prime minister also extended an invitation for Tokayev to visit Pakistan for official purposes as soon as he would be able to do so.
