There was an external attack against Isa: Tomorrow, Imran would hold demonstrations in support of the SC, he said.
It was on the directives of a “authority” that was “even superior” than the then DG ISI Lt Gen (ret) Faiz Hameed, PTI Chairman Imran Khan said Thursday in LAHORE about the referral filed against Supreme Court Justice Qazi Faez Isa during his time as premier.
On Imran’s recommendation, President Arif Alvi referred Justice Isa in May 2019.
According to the reference, between 2011 and 2015, the judge secretly obtained three leased houses in London under his wife’s and children’s names.
Later, in a rebuttal to the claims made by the attorney general for Pakistan, Justice Isa maintained that he was not required to reveal the money trail for his family’s assets since his wife and adult children were not his dependents and managed their own affairs.
He further claimed that the comment was made as part of a “witch-hunt” designed to “silence judges.”
The highest court eventually overturned the referral.
Imran was accused of having a personal vengeance against the judge by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who called the reference a “nefarious conspiracy to divide the independence of judiciary.”
PTI head stated on Thursday that the reference against Justice Isa was submitted on the orders of an authority which was even superior than the then DG ISI, an apparent reference to former army chief General Bajwa.
While waiting to be heard by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), he gave an interview to the local press.
We’ve been assured that (Justice) Faez Isa would be subjected to the same legal standards as everyone else. “[I] found out later that there was another reason [for filing reference],” he explained.
A certain segment of Pakistani society has been stealing NRO and squandering the country’s resources. Also, there’s a part (the upper echelons) where a black Vigo scoops up passengers and no one may dispute it.
When asked what he would do if he returned to power concerning “corrupt” army personnel, the former premier answered that he would follow the rule of law.
To demonstrate support for the Supreme Court and the Constitution, Imran has called for protests to be held in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar on Saturday (tomorrow).
Before going for an IHC hearing, he made the news via video message.
The PTI leader has pledged to take the helm at the Lahore demonstration to show CJP Umar Ata Bandial that the public supports the judiciary.
In light of the continuing “conflict” between the judiciary and parliament over the staging of elections in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, he called on the people to take to the streets on Saturday to show their support for the chief justice.
On May 6 at 6:00 PM, the public is being urged to “come out of their houses to foil the’mafias’ plans against the top judge.” He went on to say that disagreements on such issues were causing a rift among the Supreme Court’s justices.
Imran criticized the current administration, claiming that it was avoiding elections, breaching the Constitution, and working against the CJP.
For the sake of your children and your country, he said, “come out of your houses and tell the chief justice that the nation is standing with you.”
He said that a top army official had plotted to “assassinate him” under the name “Dirty Harry,” and he also claimed that he and PTI leader Murad Saeed were in danger from terrorists.
Everyone should know that ‘Dirty Harry’ is to blame for whatever happens to us. ‘Dirty Harry’ is the only person who has ever threatened my life, he said, claiming that no other government or terrorist organization has done so.
