According to the -News, on Wednesday, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in Lahore launched a graft complaint against Ibrahim Maneka, the son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief’s wife Bushra Bibi, former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar, and six others.

The ACE claims that the accused conspired to bribe high-ranking employees in government agencies to accept positions and promotions in exchange for millions of rupees. Farah Gogi allegedly took bribe money and stashed it away in various banks. According to ACE’s FIR, the company has recovered approximately Rs450 million.

According to the FIR, the accused misused their authority by promoting family members and friends to positions of trust within the administration.

Case defendants include Maneka, Buzdar, Gogi, senior bureaucrat Tahir Khurshid, Ahmed Aziz Tarar, Saleha Saeed, Usman Muazzam, and Sohail Khwaja.

It was reported earlier this week that Buzdar, along with other PTI veterans like Shireen Mazari and Ali Haider Zaidi, is leaving the PTI and politics altogether in the wake of May 9.

During a press conference on May 10, Buzdar denounced the destruction of property seen on May 9 (when civil and military installations were damaged by angry protestors) and reaffirmed his support for the Pakistan Army.

The controversial ex-chief minister of Punjab said he’s always been a believer in “politics of virtue,” and he called on everyone to put aside their differences and strive for the country’s good.

In the past month, several additional PTI officials have either resigned from their posts within the struggling party, quit the party, or distanced themselves from politics entirely.
