0.74% WEEKLY INFLATION

The weekly increase in inflation of 0.74%.
According to data, inflation is down year over year to 29.24%.

ISLAMABAD: The year-over-year (YoY) inflation decreased from 30.6% to 29.24% in the week ending November 10, which helped to moderate the inflationary trend, which has been steadily climbing over the past four months.

Week-on-week (WoW) inflation did, however, show a modest increase, recorded at 0.74% compared to 0.53 % last week and a record 4.13% in the week that ended on Oct. 27, according to statistics released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Friday.

Out of 51 items, 22 had price increases during the past week, 14 had price decreases, and 15 had unchanged pricing.

Price increases for chicken were 1.98%, potatoes were 5.31%, onions were 27.16%, tea leaves were 4.62, sugar was 3.60, and eggs were 2.13%.

Onions saw a 27.16% increase in price week-over-week, potatoes saw a 5.31% increase, tea saw a 4.62% increase, bananas saw a 4.38% increase, and sugar saw a 3.6% increase.

However, the cost of other necessities decreased on WoW basic. The statistics revealed that tomatoes had a fall of 6.37 per cent, along with pulse gramme, pulse masoor, moong, and five litres of cooking oil.

Similar to this, the prices of chilli powder, sugar, gur, and LPG all decreased year over year, with a fall of 41.85%, 8.9%, 6.87%, and 0.25% respectively.

In the meantime, the cost of 15 necessities stayed the same.

The SPI reports that over the last week, the rate of inflation for the group earning up to Rs17,732 per month on an annual basis increased by 26.17%.

Inflation rates increased by 27.44% for stratum earning between Rs17,733 and Rs22,888 per month and by 29.25% for those earning between Rs22,889 and Rs29,517 per month.

The inflation rate was 30.26% for those with a monthly salary between Rs 29,518 and Rs 44,175 rupees, while it was 30.14% for those earning more than Rs 44,176.
