This kind of fanaticism bothers me: The fan who broke into Virat Kohli’s hotel room is called out.

Anushka Sharma, a famous actress, described his wife’s behavior as “an absolute disgrace and abuse of a human person.”

During the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, Indian batsman Virat Kohli yelled at a supporter for invading his personal space. The batsman, who was staying in a hotel in Perth, provided unsettling information about how someone broke into his hotel suite and recorded a video of it. He also said that he is uncomfortable with his “sort of fanaticism” and that he isn’t cool with it.

Anushka Sharma, Kohli’s famous wife, also criticised the fan for entering her husband’s apartment, calling it “an absolute humiliation and violation of a human being.” The two have consistently emphasised the importance of maintaining their privacy.

He posted a video of the occurrence along with the caption, “I realise that fans become really thrilled and delighted seeing their favourite players and get excited to meet them. I’ve always appreciated that. However, this movie is disgusting and has left me feeling extremely anxious about my privacy.

Added he, “Where can I truly expect any personal space if I can’t even have it in my hotel room? This level of fanaticism and complete breach of privacy is not acceptable to me. Please respect people’s privacy and refrain from using them as a source of amusement.”

Sharma expressed her disappointment and questioned where the line should be drawn in the face of such behaviour. “Have seen a few occasions when certain fans have shown no compassion or grace in the past, but this really is the worst thing,” the actor remarked while posting a screenshot of the video.”

Added she, “A complete disgrace and abuse of a human person, and everyone who sees this and assumes that “you are a star, you should deal with it” is acceptable behaviour should be aware that they are contributing to the issue. Everyone benefits from using self-control. Where is the line if this is happening in your bedroom?

Call for privacy protection

The pair has made a strong public statement against privacy invasion by Indian media and fans. They had already denounced a number of outlets for publishing images of their Vamika, a 2-year-old, without getting permission.

In January of this year, Vamika was captured on camera supporting her father Kohli as he reached half a century during an India vs. South Africa match. In spite of the couple’s request that no pictures of their daughter be taken, screenshots from the show were posted online and quickly went viral.

Following this, Sharma expressed her “surprise” and requested respect for her daughter’s privacy for “reasons discussed earlier” in an Instagram Story. Fans quickly called out publications and accounts after the images went viral and requested that they remove the images. However, other people also questioned the Sultan star’s lack of caution.

Sharma and Kohli responded by stating that they did not intend for Vamika to be videotaped and that their position on their daughter’s media exposure is still the same.

“We are aware that yesterday’s stadium photographs of our daughter were widely published, “They had said in a press release. “We would like to let everyone know that we were unaware that we were being recorded because we were taken by surprise. We maintain our position and request in this regard. We would greatly appreciate it if Vamika’s photos weren’t taken and released for the reasons we already stated.

The actor expressed her rage on social media last year after seeing images of her and her spouse relaxing on their balcony.

According to Hindustan Times, she suggested in her post that she had already had conversations about these instances and was frustrated that they had come to nothing. “Despite our requests to the publication and the aforementioned photographer, they still violate our privacy. Guys! Stop this immediately,” she wrote on Instagram, adding the famed photo.

The couple wrote a letter of appreciation to the media in 2021 thanking them for their decision not to publish the family’s photographs. “As parents, we want to protect our child’s privacy and do everything we can to offer her the freedom to live her life without interference from the media and social media. Please exercise restraint in this situation as we cannot restrict her movement because she is older, and we thus need your help,” the couple pleaded in the note.
