The Prime Minister of AJK has accused the Center of attempting to buy MLAs.
Ilyas claims that the move is intended to bring down the government of the PTI in the region.
MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas claimed on Sunday that the Centre had sent briefcases full of cash to Muzaffarabad with the intention of buying MPs in the territory to overthrow its PTI administration.
Ilyas asserted in a media interview that the Centre was working to overthrow the PTI government in AJK.
He continued by saying that efforts were being made to influence the AJK Legislative Assembly members and that money briefcases had been sent to Muzaffarabad in an effort to purchase their support.
The prime minister of the AJK forewarned that if this “dirty strategy” persisted, the locals would take to the streets.
He continued by saying that “briefcases full of cash” would harm the Kashmir cause and that political stability was essential for AJK.
He said that employing these strategies would simply fuel conflict and political unrest in AJK while Pakistan was at war across the Line of Control.
The federal government was “asked” by the prime minister of the AJK to give up its “stubbornness” and call early general elections.
We would take to the streets if the PDM [Pakistan Democratic Movement] overthrows the AJK administration at the Centre’s urging, he continued.
Ilyas emphasised the necessity for all stakeholders to work together for the prosperity and security of the nation, claiming that the governments of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa were calling for elections.
Political forces shouldn’t be frightened to appear before the people’s court, he said, adding that the PTI demands democratic elections.
The prime minister of AJK stated that Pakistan was in charge and everything else was subordinate.
Additionally, he emphasised his worry about the nation’s economic issues.
At all costs, we require political stability. The political establishment and other interested parties must come to a consensus and resolve this issue, he continued.
Imran Khan, the deposed prime minister and head of the PTI, made the decision to dissolve the assemblies of Punjab and K-P, where his party was in charge, on December 23 (Friday), jeopardising his hard-won political position in an effort to call for early elections.
“We’ll offer both assemblies a sacrifice… They are being sacrificed for this country by us. Elections would be held in 66% of Pakistan, Imran continued.
The announcement was made by the former prime minister during his address to party members and workers at Lahore’s Liberty Chowk via video link from his home in Zaman Park. He was joined by Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi and K-P Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
