PTI has established a committee for seat adjustment in collaboration with PML-Q.
Members of the group include senior politicians such as Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry, and Pervez Khattak.

In order to discuss seat adjustments for the upcoming elections with the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) organized a three-member committee on Monday.

PTI Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi would serve as the chairman of the committee, which would also include Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry and former Defense Minister Pervez Khattak.

Fawad Chaudhry, a former minister of communication, has stated that Imran Khan, the party’s chairman, established the committee to discuss seat adjustments and examine electoral adjustment issues.

The committee’s inaugural meeting was held yesterday.

According to sources, PML-Q has agreed to dissolve the Punjab Assembly under the condition that it will receive 25 to 30 provincial seats in South Punjab, Gujarat Division and Sialkot in the upcoming general elections.

Following Imran’s announcement of December 23 as the date for his extreme action to dissolve the Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) assemblies in order to force new general elections in the nation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat the day prior.

In order to stop his cousin and fellow PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi from dissolving the Punjab Assembly, the ruling coalition assigned Chaudhry Shujaat the duty of doing so.

It was decided, according to sources, that the leaders of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) would be contacted by the federal ministers of the PML-N for advice prior to either moving a motion of no confidence in the Punjab Assembly or requesting that Chief Minister Elahi seek a vote of confidence.

Imran Khan declared that he would dissolve the provincial assembly where the PTI was in power as he ended his lengthy march last month. Additionally, he had stated that the party’s representatives in Sindh and Balochistan will step down.

After consulting party leaders and parliamentarians for three weeks, Imran had stated that the dissolution would take place on Friday, December 23. Nearly two-thirds of the total constituencies would hold new elections within 90 days of the dissolution and resignations.

The PTI has no plans to leave the Balochistan Assembly, the party’s general secretary stated on Sunday.

The ruling coalition has increased its efforts to avert such a situation since Imran’s announcement, including the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly. In this regard, Shehbaz travelled to Lahore on Sunday and met with Shujaat and Zardari back-to-back.

According to Express News, Shehbaz and Zardari decided to assign Chaudhry Shujaat the responsibility of preventing the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly. According to PPP sources cited in the report, the PML-Q leader would provide his or her approval before a final decision was made about the Punjab Assembly scenario.
