PPP discloses benefits MQM-P developed from federalism
MQM-P chief meets with JI Karachi chief to discuss upcoming local government elections.
KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party has disclosed the specifics of the benefits the party has reaped from the federal government in response to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) threatening to quit the coalition government.
Sources claim that PPP has complained to the federation and allies about the actions of MQM-P.
It was announced that Aminul Haq and Faisal Sabzwari had been appointed federal ministers and that the MQM-programs P’s had been included in the provincial budget.
The MQM-P demanded the appointment of the governor of Sindh and Murtaza Wahab’s resignation was accepted at their request.
PPP also informed them that the provincial administration was involved in the employees’ repatriation and that the MQM-administrators P’s were appointed in three districts.
On MQM-advice, P’s officers were appointed in Hyderabad and Karachi.
Six MQM-P members were awarded prominent positions in the federation, such as its Members National Assembly, on the proposal of the PPP. Standing committee chairs are Abubakar and Kishore Zehra, and parliamentary secretaries Usama Qadri and Sabir Qaim Khani.
Sadiq Iftikhar was appointed the prime minister’s special assistant on the advice of the MQM-P.
According to PPP, Arif Hanif and Abdul Malik Ghori were appointed to the Public Service Commission on the advice of MQM-P, and MPA Javed Hanif appointed his brother to the position.
Additionally, MQM-P leaders’ relatives continued to hold prominent positions in the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board after the merger.

In the meantime, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman and a group from the MQM-P led by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui met to discuss the upcoming local government elections in Karachi.
The two parties discussed the situation in Karachi and the upcoming local elections during the meeting.
JI was also invited by MQM-P to take part in the protest march on January 9 at this time.
After a thorough debate about the local body elections in Karachi, Siddiqui expressed his gratitude to the JI leadership for arranging their meeting to the media.
He claimed that the strength of fundamental democracy is shared by both parties. He stated that the municipal elections were held earlier and will continue to be held in accordance with the instructions of the Election Commission of Pakiatan (ECP) and the courts.
He claimed that there is pre-election rigging occurring in Karachi and Hyderabad. A total of 40,000 people make up the voting districts for JI and MQM-P, he continued, and the remaining rigging will take place during the polls.
Municipal elections should be held regardless of whether there are any other elections, according to the MQM-P leader, and transparency is essential.
He claimed that in order to influence public opinion, they chose to protest by exercising their legal and constitutional rights. In these circumstances, JI is also impacted, he continued.
He added that while they all concur on many aspects, their priorities can differ.
The MQM-P was their ally up until 2015, according to the JI Karachi chief, and the elections were held by going to court after a struggle.
It is tragic, according to Naeem, because when you fix one thing, the other is harmed. He observed that democratic parties face obstacles.
“Elections for both the nation and the parties are what we desire most. During dictatures, municipal elections are held, but the big parties oppose them “Added he.
Additionally, he said that the voter list is never accurate and that the elections proceeded on even as he battled to have it fixed in court.
He said, “Karachi was always mistreated, even in the census.”
He added that an unauthorised census was used to hold elections.
MQM is a part of PDM, and the governor is also a member, according to Naeem, who also said that they have concerns about delimitation and that authorization is required.
The leader of JI Karachi said that they had a 29-day dharna. Despite delimitation or voter list signs, Karachi wants its mayor, chairman, vice-chairman, and councillor, he continued.
“These local elections are not your typical ones. Pakistan is watching these elections closely. Any postponement of local elections is wrong. They must not be put off. There is a strong odour of a plot to advance things another two, four, or six years “He continued.
Naeem declared that they would demonstrate in front of the Chief Minister’s residence to demand prompt local body elections.
In answer to a query, Siddiqui stated that discussions with the PPP are ongoing.
He said that he will meet everyone and that everyone is welcome to attend the meeting with Farooq Sattar and Afaq Ahmed.
“This has been available for five years. Others must make a choice, “MQM-P is not a part of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), he continued, adding.
