ISLAMABAD: The federal government has petitioned the Supreme Court to dismiss the case involving Shahbaz Gill, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), having his bail revoked.
The application was set for an in-chamber hearing by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial. On January 18, Justice Bandial will hear the motion to dismiss.
The Islamabad City magistrate submitted the application to revoke Gill’s bail.
The Islamabad High Court was accused of treason against the state because Gill allegedly attempted to instigate military insurrection by his words, according to the plea.
In the petition, the court was urged to overturn the IHC’s ruling regarding Gill’s bail approval.
