K-P producers have also demanded fast action to remedy the LCs issue, which is now preventing any industrial activity from taking place.

PESHAWAR: Industrialists in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have urged the government to guarantee reliable, affordable gas and electricity service to manufacturing facilities.

In addition, the letter of credits (LCs) issue, which is stopping industrial activity, has been raised by the K-P producers.

On the invitation of the Industrialists Association Peshawar, Governor Ghulam Ali visited the industrial park in Hayatabad, Peshawar, and these topics were discussed (IAP). The mayor of Peshawar, Zubair Ali, went with the governor.

In his opening remarks, IAP President Malik Imran brought up a number of industrialists’ concerns, most of which had to do with gas, electricity, the collection of fixed billing rates, and quarterly power bill tariff adjustments, among other things.

According to the IAP chief, K-P is producing natural gas in excess, and new gas discoveries have also been reported in the province. However, industrial, commercial, and domestic consumers in the province do not have access to a cheap and reliable electricity supply as required by constitutional article 158-A.

In a similar vein, he expressed worry over fixed billing fees and quarterly tariff modifications in power bills, claiming that although K-P is likewise self-sufficient in the production of energy, industrial and commercial consumers in the province do not have access to it.

The IAP president sought an immediate end to fixed billing fees and the collection of quarterly tariff adjustments in addition to guaranteeing that industries would always have access to power.
