The Pakistani envoy to the United States has stated that the current phase of relations will put an emphasis on commercial concerns.

ISLAMABAD:
Masood Khan, the Pakistani ambassador to the US, stated on Saturday that business-to-business (B2B) ties between the two countries were growing, particularly in the technology industry.

The greatest export market for Pakistan is the US, and in the next years, bilateral trade is expected to increase, the ambassador said in a chat with Stuart Holliday, a former US ambassador and the CEO of Meridian International Center.

“Improving economic cooperation is the focus of the current phase of Pak-US relations. We have prioritised commerce, agriculture, businesses, technology, disaster preparedness, environment, health, and people-to-people contacts during recent high-level visits,” stated Masood.

Through effective leadership and diplomacy, the non-partisan Meridian International Centre works to improve international security and prosperity. It develops collaborations, initiatives, and global leadership exchange and education programmes to improve international cooperation on critical issues like security, energy and the environment, economic development, entrepreneurship, global health, and culture.

The Pakistani envoy ambassador noted that several delegations, including students, professionals, and experts from Pakistan, had travelled to the US over the previous few years. He said, “In the long run, they will build bridges between Pakistan and the US,” adding that Pakistan would also like to welcome more US students, academics, and businesspeople visiting the country.
