According to Fawad, the PTI made the decision to return to the National Assembly in “restricted numbers” in order to oust opposition leader Raja Riaz.

ISLAMABAD: According to Tuesday’s Express-News, Speaker of the National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has accepted the resignations of 43 more Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs.

The resignations were confirmed by the speaker and handed to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), who would then issue notifications.

Only two members of the former ruling party remain in the lower house, in addition to the PTI’s dissidents.

The news comes a day after 43 PTI MNAs had their resignations accepted, out of 45 who had asked to have them withdrawn.

The resignations of 123 PTI MPs have reportedly been accepted thus far, but two members’ resignations have not been accepted as a result of their leave requests, according to sources in the Speaker’s Office.

The PTI members’ resignations were also received by the electoral watchdog, and today’s meeting will decide whether to de-notify them. The ECP will also think over whether to grant the MNAs of the previous ruling party’s request to be excused from denotification.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry explained in a series of tweets that the party had opted to send “limited numbers” back to the NA in order to oust Raja Riaz as opposition leader since, in his words, “this National Assembly had no representational status left for us to return to it” otherwise.

The Shehbaz Sharif administration currently relies on turncoats (dissenting PTI MNAs) to sustain itself because it has lost the backing of 172 people.

40% of the NA seats became empty as a result of the speaker’s efforts to save Raja Riaz, according to Fawad, and elections were drawing nearer in the nation.

He questioned how long the administration would avoid the country, saying that the best way to resolve the situation was through national elections.

He continued by saying that a vote would be taken in order for the people to decide.

Fawad had previously stated that the decision to reverse the NA resignations was made in order for the party to reclaim the positions of the opposition leader and parliamentary party leader.

The removal of the “false” NA opposition leader, he continued, was done in order to stop “turncoats” from supporting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the confidence vote.

It is important to know that PTI MNAs addressed letters and emails to the NA speaker yesterday asking him or her to accept their resignations owing to the closure of Parliament House.

PTI members arrived at the National Assembly on Monday, but the Parliament House’s gates were locked because the structure had been evacuated for three days owing to a short circuit.

PTI employees demonstrated in front of Parliament. Aamir Dogar, the leader of the party, referred to sealing the gate as “cowardice.”

He told the reporters that Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja had personally accepted the application and that the ECP should fulfil its constitutional duties in this case.

Dogar claimed that the PTI team, which was joined by Riaz Fatyana and other leaders, requested that the commission treat the party’s decision fairly and in accordance with the Constitution.
