LAHORE—Aamir Mir, a spokesman for the Punjab government, said that the claim that high-level American officials met with Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, at Adiala Jail was false. Four days ago, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the central president of the PTI, told reporters outside of court that Imran had met with officials from the US, the EU, and the IMF.
After Elahi’s claim, the prison’s director and a spokesperson said that Imran had only met his family and lawyers and that no foreigner had met him.
Someone from the prison said that both Elahi and Imran were in the same jail, but that their rooms were 500 meters apart and that they had not yet met. It was suggested by Mir that Elahi not make up lies.
