LAHORE: On Saturday, an anti-terrorism court judge let PTI worker Sanam Javed go free after she was arrested. The judge did not look closely at the prosecution’s bail reasons because they were not enough to prove the charges against her.
The fan of the PTI is accused of attacking police, hurting them, making things more dangerous for law and order, and having petrol bombs with them during a police operation at Zaman Park.
The law officer told the court that Sanam was named in the FIR because of a “zamni statement” as the case began. He said that the PTI activist’s call log showed that she was at Zaman Park during the operation.
He said that 13 official cars were set on fire and more than 30 people were hurt during the operation. Also, the officer said that they still didn’t have the results from the polygraph test on Sanam’s interviews and speeches.
Additionally, the police officer told the court that three petrol bombs were found on her person. He said it over and over again: no one has been released on bail after being caught with gas bombs.
The petitioner’s lawyer was angry and told the court that the accusations against her “have nothing to do with reality.” He said that his client was wrongly accused and that the only reason was to make her feel bad.
The law officer told the ATC judge that the petrol bombs were found in Zaman Park on November 16, which was when the judge asked when they were taken from the suspects. He said the gas bombs were found at Zaman Park after some work was done on a piece of land.
The lawyer for the accused petitioner said, “It is amazing that the incident was reported on March 14 and the bombs were found on November 16.” He made it clear that the police officer was talking about finding gas bombs in a place that had already been cleaned up by the administration and the bomb disposal team had left the area clear.
The lawyer for the accused petitioner said that “the real reason behind embarrassing Sanam Javed was her social media criticism of [PML-N vice president] Maryam Nawaz.”
It’s important to note that the Racecourse police have filed a FIR against several suspects, including Sanam Javed, for attacking police officers, setting fire to police vans, hurting officers, disrupting law and order, causing chaos and anarchy, and setting fire to police vehicles during a police operation at Zaman Park.
