The government says at least nine people were killed in a blast on Sunday at a plant in western India that made drones and explosives.
The workers at Solar Industries India in Nagpur, Maharashtra, were in the packing area when there was a blast.
“It is very sad that nine people, including six women, died in the explosion at Solar Industries in Nagpur,” Devendra Fadnavis, the state’s deputy chief minister, said on X, which used to be Twitter.
He also said that the company makes drones and weapons for the country’s military.
The state government will give each family of a person who died in the accident $6,000.
At least three workers were hurt in the accident, and now the police are looking into it.
India has a lot of industrial accidents. Experts say this is because safety rules aren’t always followed and there isn’t enough planning.
In eastern Bihar state last year, 11 people were killed in an explosion at a house where illegal fireworks were being made.
And in 2021, a blast at a firecracker plant in the southern part of Tamil Nadu state killed 19.
