KARACHI: On Saturday, President Dr. Arif Alvi stressed the need of prominent religious figures and imams to work together to implement health and education policies, suggesting that religious platforms might play a role in raising awareness about mental health issues and encouraging literacy.

At Sindh Governor House, the president presided over a gathering of Darul Uloom Karachi delegates. The conference was also attended by Dr. Aneeq Ahmed, the caretaker federal minister for religious affairs and interfaith harmony.

Alvi stated that masjid and madaris have the potential to contribute significantly to the advancement of national welfare and education.

He also stressed the need to create a mental health and wellness toolbox as soon as possible. In order to educate the 36% of children in the country who are not in school, he emphasized the importance of working closely with Masajid and Madaris. At the gathering, people spoke about Masajid’s work to spread the word about the importance of education and health as societal norms.
